Roam and Deseret

Here upon these plains,
the heavens stillness,
releases a falling star,
its falling to earth,
reminded me of you.
These nights stars,
are like the tinkle in your eyes,
shining like an oasis,
a respite for a thirsty soul,
Here in this solitude of this night,
I am at rest in their splendor,
if only, I could be with you,
this would ease my mind.

As day breaks anew,
with the morning sun,
that sparkles on the dew,
whose presence nourishes,
the range grass, that feeds,
these cattle that I am guarding,
I am not a outlaw on the run,
but this is job of a true buckaroo,
and these cattle have to be moved,
up to Wichita before this drive is through,
and I can return to you.

When I get back to Tulsa town,
there in beautiful Oklahoma,
we will ride down to Fort Worth,
where the parson is awaiting,
at the chapel door,
our lives will join together,
ole roam and deseret,
we will live together forever more.
